Around 1030 EMS 62 and Engine 312 were dispatched to the PA turnpike in the area of the service plaza for a vehicle accident with injuries. Engine 312 responded 4 minutes after dispatch with 4 men and were being advised by LC radio of now a possible vehicle on fire resulting from a police pursuit. Engine 311 then hit the streets with 3 men. As units arrived they found 1 vehicle 30 feet down an embankment fully envolved, 1 male being put in hand cuffs by police and 1 female laying about 100 yards from the vehicle in the embankment. Chief Heicklen (Engine 312 officer) then requested Rescue 3041(Lower Macungie) and Rescue 1141(Greenawalds) to assist with a rope rescue due to the location of the patient and the steep muddy embankment. As Crews from Cetronia extinguished the fire Crews from Rescue 3041 extricated the patient out and was then transported to the hospital. Crews picked up and went back in service 1 1/2 hours later.
